Under the direction of the Planning Director, assists in planning activities, meeting coordination and set up, research, report writing, documentation, and filing.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Experience and Eduction

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Community Development, or related field, with at least five (5) years of experience in Planning or Community Development preferred. GIS and/or auto-cad experience preferred.  American Institute of Certified Planners (ACIP) Certification preferred. Must have the ability to work and write professionally in a deadline-driven environment.  Experience working with/for a Native American Tribe is highly desired.

Equivalent experience will not be accepted in place of required education.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Valid, current, and unrestricted Washington State Driver’s License.
